Lockheed Martin Systems Engineering Manager in Huntsville, Alabama
The candidate is accountable for the success of Systems Engineering efforts in all program phases to include requirements definition, allocation/derivation, maintenance, and verification/validation. In addition, the candidate is responsible for the planning and conduct of major program reviews including, but not limited to, SRR, PDR, CDR, and Pre-Ship Readiness Reviews (PSRR). The candidate will also coordinate various target system analyses in support of mission planning and execution and may be required to support missions at various Missile Defense Agency ranges or sites. Some travel will be required. The candidate also supports the development of strategic plans, roadmaps (technical, personnel, & management), and proposal efforts to cultivate new business opportunities. The Manager attracts, develops, and maintains a diverse workforce while fostering an inclusive environment, provides leadership in the Targets and Countermeasures organization and will work with other LM business units and external agencies as needed.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelors or Masters degree in an Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college/university - Experience in leading Systems Engineering efforts with a measure of accountability for technical/cost/schedule performance, including one or more of the following: 1) requirements identification, decomposition and allocation, 2) interface control document and specification development and management, 3) requirements implementation and verification assessment, 4) system-level compatibility assessments (electrical and/or mechanical) and other system-level analyses (e.g., aerothermal, dynamics, mass properties, etc.), 5) preparation and execution of major program reviews, including negotiations/management associated with objective evidence - Demonstrated Systems Engineering and Systems Engineering leadership skills - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills - Proven Full Spectrum Leadership (FSL) skills and experience leading employees to perform productively and foster relationships in a cross-functional team environment - DoD Secret level clearance required prior to start
Desired skills - Customer interface experience; prior support to major design reviews, target/missile systems engineering and operations. - Proficiency with SE tools, such as DOORS, MatLab, and/or other design and/or analysis tools (e.g., CREO, NASTRAN, SINDA, etc.) - Current CAM certification - Current or prior CPE and/or CTC certification - Experience with Fixed-Price contracts - Familiarity with MDA Customer and past experience supporting MDA programs - Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex systems engineering issues - Demonstrated a customer orientation by learning and understanding customers’ mission, needs and perspectives - Proposal preparation experience - Ability to manage, coach, train, and motivate a team
