  • The National Team provides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets. The Systems Concepts and Requirements IPT of the National Team is seeking RF engineers who are creative and think-out-of-the-box to support analysis and development of medium fidelity modeling and simulation tools used for Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) requirements development in the electronic attack/electronic protection arena. *Responsibilities: *

  • Duties include performing as the Responsible Engineer to provide technical oversight and management of 5-8 requirements engineers tasked with the development and documentation of functional, performance, and interface concepts and requirements in a model-based systems engineering environment. Individual will lead development of system/component trade studies and analysis using established methodologies and MATLAB based tools. Responsible for planning and progress reporting of requirements development tasks and coordination with organizational and technical working group leads, senior management and MDA counterparts. Individual will organize development and presentation of briefings within the team and to senior technical managers within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and supporting stakeholders.

  • Occasional travel is required. This position requires candidate acceptance by industry partner resource control board.

Basic Qualifications (Requirements):

  • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Candidate must demonstrate experience in successfully leading a small team of multi-functional engineers/technicians in using MATLAB based tools in the performance analysis of RF based systems in hostile tactical environments.

  • Must demonstrate knowledge/expertise in left-hand side of the Systems Engineering “V” in developing system-of-system level requirements resulting in publishing requirements and interface specification documents. Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities along with horizontal integration skills.

  • Candidate must cite examples of successful Customer technical engagements and conduct of technical reviews.

  • Must be able to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Candidate will perform and understand multiple tasks simultaneously and provide performance status of time phased taskings.

Assets (Preferred):

  • Systems engineering experience in developing electronic attack and electronic protection (EA/EP) solutions for RF sensors or weapon systems.

  • Experience working within a Missile Defense element such as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Patriot, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Command Control Battle Management Communication (C2BMC). Note: demonstrated experience in similar mission areas acceptable (e.g., offensive/defensive electronic warfare, IAMD, air combat, etc.).

  • Experience managing requirements in DOORS or similar requirements engineering tool

  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.

Typical Education / Degree Level 5:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
