DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Serves as an Aviation System Safety Engineer/Analysts with the U.S. Army Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) in support of technical teams providing engineering analysis, assessment and impact as they relate to issuance of Airworthiness Releases (AWRs) for US and United Kingdom AH-64 (Apache) aircraft and weapon systems. Serves as the principal consultant, advisor and technical authority on system safety related matters within AED Apache office. Efforts will focus on providing system safety analysis, design evaluation of systems, subsystems and equipment material issues which impact airworthiness with follow-on coordination of solutions/mitigations for those issues to the other members of the technical team. Analysis is based on MIL-STD-882, AR 385-10 and other industry standards. Establishes system safety program objectives, requirements, schedules and recommends courses of action to meet the safety requirements needed to attain aircraft airworthiness release (AWR). Interaction with Apache and Apache systems equipment manufacturers, UK airworthiness authority, and the Army Apache Program Office. Expect to provide briefings at the O-6 level. Other activities may include accident investigation or investigation support.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 10 years’ experience. 15 years equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience with Army Aviation Programs
Experience within the last 2 years working within an Army Aviation Rotory Wing Project Office or current experience within any Army Aviation Project Office.
Experience as a system safety engineer or analyst
US Citizenship. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (Secret).
Must have an active (Secret) clearance.
Ability to travel outside the US.
Apache Knowledge as either pilot or maintainer
Experience as a system safety engineer or analyst for an Army rotory wing platform
Knowledge and understanding of the airworthiness process for AWRs through AED, a plus.
Engineering degree from accredited school
