Lockheed Martin Software Engineer, MET-I M&S in Huntsville, Alabama

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced Software Engineer that is ready to engage in projects that contribute to the safety and security of the United States and its Allies while collaborating with some of the most experienced engineers in the industry. MET-I Description: The Missile Defense Agency Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I), also called the National Team, provides systems engineering solutions to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for the development and evolution of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The BMDS is an integrated, layered architecture that provides multiple opportunities to destroy missiles and their warheads before they can reach their targets. MET-I system engineers perform system-level assessments of the existing BMDS architecture and study the impacts of new technologies and concepts being considered for future BMDS architectures. The National Team engineers work closely with the MDA, FFRDCs, and various contractors and suppliers to shape the future of missile defense. Software Engineer Position: The successful candidate will support development and maintenance of the medium fidelity modeling and simulation tools used for simulation and end-to-end analysis of the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Duties include leading 3-5 software engineers and subject matter experts in development or update of MATLAB and C++ code for tool development, configuration control of SW products, generation of reports / artifacts, preparation of deliverables to internal and external customers, managing user access, conducting user training, and documenting/updating process and procedures, guides & checklists. Individual will work within a focused workgroup supported by subject matter experts to analyze system-of-system behaviors and future needs to meet mission level requirements. Candidate will routinely interface with other National Team groups, technical leaders, and government personnel performing analysis tasks. Candidate is responsible for documenting analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by SC&R and National Team stakeholders. Individual is responsible for management of engineering design tasks, customizing the tool as needed, executing upgrades, and troubleshooting problems.

Basic Qualifications

Software programing background with 20+ year experience using and maintaining analytical and simulation tools and processes

Strong working knowledge of MATLAB and C++.

Strong background in Software Design, Software Engineering and Software Configuration Management principles.

Software Integration or Test experience.

Strong writing, organizing, and communication / collaboration skills.

Secret level clearance in required for this position.
