Job Summary: This position can be located anywhere in United States as long as you are near a major airport for commuting purposes.

The Plant Operations Maintenance – Subject Matter Expert (POM SME) serves as the head of SSC support team that provides technical assistance for the operations team in the field throughout the nation.

The POM SME responsibilities include: development of training systems, sales support for POM, Custodial and Grounds. Deploying and management of subject matter experts in all services to support surveys, startup of new units, interim managers, sales costing, proposal and presentations. Developing corporate-wide support for all accounts nationwide. Implementation of web-based CMMS including development of software, procedures and systems for deployment at client locations ensuring best practices for all services and customer satisfaction.

Incumbent is guided by thorough knowledge of business practices, technical proficiency in total facilities management. Personnel motivation, team building, leadership, and applicable laws and government regulations.

This is a national position and can sit anywhere in the US.


  • Working closely with the SSC Sales Division to participate in surveys & sales presentations of new business and helping to establish pricing for bids.

  • Has an awareness of competition and market conditions and looks for opportunities for the growth of the company.

  • Offers support in programs in Facilities Services Management, Support Management, Human Resources, Sales, Contract Preparation and Customer Satisfaction.

  • Prepares initial contract language and Statement of Work for proposed contracts as needed and review legal and sales before presentation to client.

  • Partners closely with new sales managers in survey process, company systems and best practices to provide to clients and costing methods.

  • Plans, organizes, and controls functions and activities of program implementation of operations and support of accounts.

  • Continuous research and development of training manuals and best practices in all services to include software solutions and current and future industry practices.

  • Liaison with all corporate training accounts in all service lines to ensure latest systems are in place and available for training of new managers.

  • Responsible for the selection and management of subject matter experts in POM, custodial and grounds management.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, federal regulations. Improves skills in facilities management through personnel development and continuous education.

  • Serves as liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and material and equipment suppliers.

  • Interviews independent contractors to receive and analyze bids, submit bids and recommendations to client for consideration. Negotiates with outside vendors for preferred agreements.

  • Performs other services and duties as delegated and serves on a variety of facility committees as required by SSC.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture or engineering is required.

  • Seven years responsibility in a POM environment.

  • Contract Management experience highly preferred.

  • The ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated detailed instructions in writing and orally.

  • Ability to present in front of clients or large groups of individuals.

  • Effective written skills and oral communications.

  • Must have computer proficiency in MS Office professional.

  • Experience with CMMS for Computerized maintenance, Custodial systems, Grounds service.

  • Clean driving record in order to operate a company vehicle.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions, sometimes under stress. Position requires personal to travel and be on the road away from home an average of 75% of their time.
