OrbitalATK is seeking a Mgr. Quality Assurance in its Huntsville, Alabama location.
Job Description:Working level manager that manages the activities of Quality Engineers and Inspectors as matrix resources responsible for integration of avionic, structural assemblies, and integration testing. Develops and maintains adequate staffing to meet Program needs and updates staffing plans for the Quality department. Develop, evaluate, and improve processes related to non-conformances, identifying Root Cause and implementing effective Corrective / Preventative Actions. Perform assessments of Integration & Test processes and implements process improvements. Provides support to Manufacturing, Field Operations, and Supplier Quality in planning activities and Root Cause Corrective Action efforts. Candidate will provide weekly status to the Quality Director and participate in management and program status meetings. Provides annual employee performance reviews for assigned resources.
Candidate will also be responsible for supporting final system integration and test activities for various orbital space launch vehicles. Specific duties may include: support developing of processes and procedures for the assembly and test of launch vehicle systems; documenting and disposition hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions; supporting required MRB processing; perform inspection of components and assemblies; support integration activities with supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations; review design changes on WIP or completed assemblies; Occasional business travel may be required.
Required Qualifications:Candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, or related field, plus at least ten (10) years Leadership experience in an aerospace/manufacturing environment. Ten (10) or more years of experience required, working with Launch Vehicle Integration, ERP systems, and Quality Software (e.g. TipQA).Candidate must possess an active Security Clearance
Candidate shall be capable of working independently, demonstrate effective management skills in working with multi-task assignments, interfacing with various engineering disciplines, and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate will have demonstrated his or her ability to present complex technical subjects to senior management (internal and external) audiences. Candidate shall have strong data analysis skills for recommending improvements in data trending and understanding its relationship to Program requirements is essential, including the ability to work directly with internal customers to understand program activity and make recommendations for data collection and reporting solutions.
Candidate must be have the ability to listen effectively and understand requirements to document and execute reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:Ideal candidate shall possess related experience working with launch site integration, hazardous materials, mechanical assemblies, machined/formed parts, and composite structures and tooling. Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated issues both technical and procedural.
Experience with CostPoint and/or Impromptu, HTML experience is desired. Strength in working with customers, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, and design engineering with missile or launch vehicle systems is highly desired. Work related experience should demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility. Extensive Root Cause and Problem Solving experience is highly desirable.
